I watched, from 10 feet away, with disbelief as a Vauxhall Insignia rolled downhill into my parked car.
Then watched with greater disbelief as the same car pulled forward 3 feet, only to roll back and hit my car a 2nd time.

Turns out it was an 80yr old yank who had hired a manual from a 'respectable' international car rental firm, despite not having driven a manual for well over 40 yrs. He had a bit of an issue finding the bite point.

Damage to both cars was minimal....paint scuffs, nothing structural.

Anyway...liability sorted instantly via dozens of witnesses, the rental firm and their monkey Loss Adjusters pissed about for a fortnight to get everything sorted, but eventually they did.

My car finally goes in tomorrow. Rental firm offered to provide a like-for-like courtesy car and got their 'Exotic' division to source one in time.

.... a Jaguar XKR-S. All 550bhp of it. And a fuel card.

God love geriatric Americans.

Good luck to your rental firm getting that cost recovered from the other insurer!

Its the rental firm that hired the car to the yank that have sorted it all...all costs covered internally.

I'd be very wary!

lost of threads in SP&L of similar where charges have been raised for a third party insurer providing like for like because the innocent party had asked for a similar vehicle.

Its a courtesy car to get you round while your vehicle is being repaired, they dont have to provide like for like or anything close.

That said it might not be going through a TP insurer as it was a hire car and I assume the car you have is from the same hirer?

edit: seems i'm late to the party, enjoy!

Yeah - I was stung by this years ago, before the Accident Management industry had really taken of with an Z4M to replace my Exige. Supplied by Accident Exchange who then manage to delay approval and sign off of a 2 day job for 5 weeks. Resultant bill was well into £5-figures. TP Insurer would only cough up a percentage and so they came after me.

....luckily the delivery driver didn't realise I had selectively redacted key paragraphs of the contract before signing.
