Whining noise from 2.0 tdci Kuga

Hi everyone,

Today I noticed that my Kuga (2010 2.0 tdci) has started making a whining noise. The pitch of the noise increases with engine revs and it happens whether or not the car is in gear/in motion.

Does anyone know what this could be? Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Sounds to be it could be the flywheel bearing or alternator, they are 2 common things that spin with the engine

Just a quick thing to try does it get worse with the lights on?

Had a fiesta in the other day with this exact same problem but only when the lights were on. Having them on was putting extra strane on the charging making the alternator whine big time. Turn the lights off quiet as a mouse.

One new alternator later nice quiet fiesta!
