Hi, just a quick query. Where does everyone get their large format prints done and whats the maximum size you've been able to get?

Maximum size is a moving target.

How good is the original file? A good 8mp file will be more printable than a bad 50mp file.

Whats the viewing distance?

What are you printing on?

A good file should be able to handle...

300dpi for glossy photo prints viewed up close
150-200dpi for matte prints or glossy viewed from a bit further back
100-150dpi for canvas or matte prints from a distance.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more interested in what the biggest physical size people are able to obtain is.

Im interested as I have access to prints of upto 1600mm wide now on any substrate. I don't think I'm allowed to advertise in here though. I was just curious as to how big people were able to get.

120kg - but that's not important right now.

Illogical - Captain!

A photo on a billboard at the side of a motorway doesn't need any more pixels than what's on the front of your newspaper.

Do you remember "Father Ted" trying to explain "big things further away"? The world works like that!

I use Loxley. The largest I regularly have printed is 30x20", but they can do up to 96x48".

Best value place I've used is print 24. Ths has been for promotional posters and the like but may be worth a look.
