I know there will be different opinions but does anyone know the SRAM answer as I cannot find it. Do I remove the sticky lube that comes with a new chain? oil over it? or leave alone?

No, leave it on. Or rather "in. It's grease that coats every part of the chain, including the pins/inside the rollers which is where you really need it. What makes it so good inside however makes it not so good on the outside, as it's so sticky all the grit 'n' muck sticks to it.

Fit the chain, spray GT85 on a rag and spin the chain through it 'til the outer faces (side plates, rollers) are no longer sticky. Then go for a ride, and relube only when it's dry/dirty. You'll be surprised at how long it'll last.
