I've always heard people say what a great book it is if your into investments/business etc. Been trying to isolate which of the titles that seem to be by him/about him it could be. Any guidance sure a few of you have read it?

Snowball is a truly awesome book.

The Snowball looks good. I may buy that.

General books on 'value growth' investing are some of the most boring things I've ever read. Unless you're wholly committed and have a genuine, strong interest in that subject area, I would stay clear.

Snowball is good but I didn't finish it. Just didn't have time it's enormous!

There's a book that is essentially a barely edited compendium of his letters to shareholders.

It's a pretty good start, because it's in his own very straightforward words

You can get all these on the Berkshire website if anyone's interested.

Get the audio edition, we listened to it over a few hours/days travelling across the US.

It is very interesting and good.

I think the book that you are referring to in your OP, is not in fact by Buffet himself, but by Benjamin Graham. Warren Buffet was one of his students. The book - as linked by GregF40 - is The Intelligent Investor.

It's massive, but you can get the theme of the book by looking at summaries you will find on the Internet.

I think the method of investing taught by the book is good for the personal investor. It encourages very long term views, ridicules speculation and guides the investor to make decisions as if they were engaging in a business acquisition.

Many investors, amateur and professional, act more like they are betting on a horse race, hoping that companies will 'make it big' with their next new product / service / novelty offering. This is in complete contrast to the teachings of Graham.

Here's the link on Wikipedia - read the bit about Mr Market http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Intelligent_Inves...
