I normally buy bigger engine cars such as Porsche 997 C4, Audi S4 and more recently an ML350 Blue TEC (don't ask why).

Anyway the ML is about to go and I was thinking of an XK, an F-Type or an M4.

Thing is, most of my mileage is the commute to work and sometimes in quite heavy traffic as the new Runcorn Bridge is being erected - and likely to be the case for the next four years.

Anyway, all of my kids are driving now or learning and so I was thinking of something a little fun for the commute and maybe the odd trip to Scotland. I'd rather keep the cost down as I've recently bought my daughter a new car and have to source two cars for my twin boys soon (ouch!)

I also share my these trips between a car and an R1200GS.

So, from those in the know, are these fun to use on a daily basis, especially in the winter months.

Do folk bother with winter tyres on them

The car doesn't have a sat nav but is pre-wired for a system that is easily installed - apparently.

Any thoughts please - good or bad?

Should I consider something else?
I also looked at a Z4 but just thought the SLK was more convertible.

I can't comment on the SLK but they seem like good cars an ex had a 350 that ran without a hitch & it was a decent steer, but the 250 engine is a good one no need for winter tyres I had my 250 remapped it produced 258 bhp better fuel economy & ran fine while I had it I also fitted a direct replacement K&N filter that seemed to help throttle response.

As for the nav I'd buy a TomTom as good as the Merc one is the TT is better & I'm guessing will be way cheaper to buy
