What's this all about now then?

Driving past the roadworks at the A45/46 and M1 Catthorpe junctions. There are 9 1/2 mph speed limit signs all over the works. Who picked that as a speed limit?

Also, a lot of the vehicles now run flashing yellow and flashing green lights. Why is this? Are they all Doctors?? hehe

The strange speed limits are there because they stick in your mind more than the usual 10/15 limits seen all over road sites.

Not sure about the green lights on vehicles. Should be yellow. As far as I know there's no recent site practice changes but I may be out of date.

On the sites i work on. Green means seat belt on. The odd speed limit as I understand is more noticeable than 5 or 10mph. I have sat through too many health and safety seminar's... Some of the things we have to do is unreal.

9.5mph is 15kph in new money. Well ok its 15.2 kph exactly but who gives a toss about the 0.2! Blame Brussels !

A contractor told me that most (all?) site vehicles' speedos will not start registering until 10mph, therefore 9.5mph was the chosen limit - ergo, if the needle is even flickering, the vehicle is going too fast.
