Engine Transplants
Discussion
My intention is not for this to be a S6-bashing thread...
Has anyone attempted any kind of engine transplant for a Tuscan?
We have the LS6 going into various Chimaeras and so on.
I have heard of M3 engines going into Cerbera's...given the S6 problems I would be interested if anybody had considered one in a Tuscan.
Would it fit?

The main problem in the Tuscan engine bay is that the Speed Siz engine is installed tilted over, and so there is not much room for any other engine
although having said that, I don't know anyone who has actually measured it all up, this is all based on an initial look and guess
i always said the LS engine in a Tuscan would be a great car, just never had the cash/desire/time/ability to do it!!

Transplant???!!!!! I wouldn't have entertained buying a TVR unless they produced their own engine(s). If you don't , you are just another UK kit car manufacturer e.g. Lotus, Noble, Caterham, Westfield, Ginetta etc etc
Who cares who manufactures an engine? It's either a good engine or a bad engine, based on whether the character suits the car, the weight has a negative effects on the handling, and the performance & reliability. The badge on the top of the block doesn't alter how good the car is.
Being a "kit car manfucturer" has a lot more to it than where the engine comes from. It's about consistency, warranty, customer support, dealers, etc. Oh, yeah, and whether the car's available in kit form.
The world's going the way of a load of well developed basic engine blocks (given the conglomerates that make up the motor industry), and I think that's a good thing. Still plenty of scope for tuning and customisation, but proven, reliable, cheap blocks with an limitless supply of parts and support. That's not to say a good, independently designed engine can't be produced. Just that it realistically makes it harder to compete for the same price.

Quite right.
The Speed 6 is why I bought my Tuscan. And why I've ordered another.

A TVR driver calling Lotus a kit car manufacturer? They have type approved cars, unlike TVR, they have also got their cars approved for sale in the us, not a trivial thing and hardly kit carish.
What about Zonda - they use a merc engine, the AM vanquish engine is derived from 2 mondeo engines, maserati use a block designed by ferrari, BMW use a chrysler engine in the mini, Ascari has the old M5 engine. It is the manufacture of the speed six being outsourced to cadburys that puts me off owning a T350, they look great but that engine is a timebomb and not a risk I am prepared to take.

Mirror, signal, manoeuvre.
Hmmm...
Better get TVR to fix the mirror and the indicators, then....
Cheers

lol, look forward to some figures disputing the now infamous poll, next you'll be telling me the people in the "how many miles has your done" thread are all lying

Here we go again.
If you need TVR to use their own engines in order to justify to yourself that you haven't bought a kit car, that is just very, very sad.
When TVR get approval to sell in the USA then you can start bashing Lotus.
I wouldn't call TVR's kit cars, but a kit car with its own engine would still be a kit car!
Get real!

What do you expect from someone who has driven a SP6 in anger but with respect for 2 and a half years with no engine probs, but has sympathy with those that have had. I love my car and nothing on here based on heresay will alter my opinion. Now done over 19000 SP6 wonderful miles. Yes niggles, which I have had a go at, but nothing to deter me from Tusc ownership. If and when that occurs I will again openly state my probs, but will never derogorate a car that has fullfilled my expectations a thousandfold.
