All UK Spec Chimaera's have CATS, the only exceptions being Channel islands cars if requested when new. The car has two small cats in the manifolds, and one large one in the downpipe. The only way to tell if it's still inside would be open it up or run the car from cold on a exhaust gaz analyser.

That may be true now, but I thought 4.3 cars pre-dated cats? Were any catalysed 4.3 engines produced? I suspect the 4.3 was replaced by the [catalysed] 4.0HC engine for emissions purposes.
The 4.3 was only produced in 93/94, with the 4.0HC and 500 both starting in 94.

Cats were mandatory on Vehicles built from 1 Jan 93. So all Chimaeras. 93 4.x Griffi were actually built using chassis registered in Dec 92 and got round it.
