I paid 300 for mine from aas. Quite a bit of work involved.
I was happy
What to put an X pipe in! I was happy

just had an x-pipe put onto the vxr8, Got one for 80 quid and the installation was £110, so just shy of £200 for the whole thing. Sounds great, love the pops on it now. Just trying to think of what mod to go for next now
Is the rest of your exhaust all standard?I want pops.

Yes mate. From the cats. Make hole or fitment for o2 sensor then all the way up near rear silincers. To me and many others that's reasonable. How much were you thinking like?
Ah that's more than just a short X pipe like Wolfracer put up.Definitely done a good job tjo. But I agree with you if they have literally only put xpipe in then that is a bit steep

I will post a video this weekend.
this is what mine sounded like before the x-pipe, - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou2QSD0CUUM
and this is with - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_k1k9dAqJs
Sorry for the poor sound on the drive in the 2nd video

What does an x pipe do?
Does it only work on a v8 or does it do whatever it does for other systems.

I'm certainly no expert, but it helps exhaust gas pulse flow from the headers, effectively drawing the pulses from the headers and through to the exhaust exit. They work on other engine configurations, such as V10s. Not sure what else they work on, and whether (theoretically) they should work for all internal combustion engines.Does it only work on a v8 or does it do whatever it does for other systems.

Anyone seen the cooling system on a Norton Rotary bike engines? Especially evident on the old Jps racers. It runs a pipe off the exhaust by the silencer, at less than 90 degrees from the direction of flow, that pulls air through via the vacuum created by the massive rpm of the rotary engine. This air pulled though by the exhaust flow cools the engine on the Norton set up.
Exhaust scavaging is the same thing, except it uses the gases rushing past (in the x pipe in this case I guess) to create vacuum in the opposite bank exhaust to pull more burnt gases out of the cylinders, creating more flow. Or pops and bangs, and flames in this case as well I guess.
Not familiar with the precise reasons for this mod it has to be said, but I'm guessing it's all along the same theme...?
Edit, note to self, read all posts before posting. Lol
Exhaust scavaging is used on any configuration with more than one cylinder , if desired. On bikes especially.
