GT4 or wait for Spyder?

Everyone is talking GT4 which is fair enough but the Boxster version will surely soon follow. For road use (rather than track) won't the open car be a serious contender in the fun stakes? The GT4 will never catch a GT3 anyway so why not enjoy the extra sound and wind in your hair while you savour the tactile delights of an upgraded 981? Rather than have an awkward discussion with the OPC about the oversubscribed GT4, Is anyone else tempted to get their name down for a Spyder?

manual roof hard work, if it was a roof like the boxster it would be great...

Supposedly a mechanised roof, maybe a fabric version of the targa system?

It's more is the spyder worth considering for those who fail to get a gt4. If you did want a gt4 it's probably too late, if not then you could likely run the Gt4 for no loss till the spyder comes out anyway.

Personally see this as cayman vs boxster except with a bigger difference in performance and driver focus so I don't see the spyder as a natural alternative and will probably look to 997.1 gt3s.

If you didn't own a GT3, then I'd definitely say GT4. But as you do, then look at the Spyder for a different driving experience, especially as one once said the Boxster is all you really need in a car.

we don't know if there are two Boxster specials now. The Spyder and the Club Sport.

Is this just Autocar talking up a Club Sport model?
The Spyder is coming this year, don't know numbers but less than GT4 and I would suspect by now that most, if not all OPCs have enough LOIs to cover allocation.
Would be nice to know when we get more details and a launch date
