991 c4S or 997 GTS4?

Please help me decide. They both seem to be around £65,000 but one is an old model. Help.

If the GTS is a manual. 997 all day long.

991 PDK will be better than a 997 PDK.

The 997 is older but is also full of feel and feedback.
The 991 is a more clinical anodyne experience by comparison.

But depends what you like/want.

Drive both.

If my 997 GTS was a manual, I don't think I would have changed it yet.

Just went through this exact exercise and after many visits to PEC I decided a 997 GTS4 was the better sports car.

So far, no regrets, absolutely love the whole experience of driving it.

I have a 997 C4S and a 996 C4. I find the 997 little uninvolving so I spend more time driving the 996. I thought that the GTS might be the solution to the 997's blandness. Although something in my struggles at the idea of paying 991 prices for a 997.

Try a 997.2 S, much less than a GTS to buy and 95% of the car. You might find one very well specced and apart from the fat arse it will be pretty much the same car.

Personally, I'd go for a 991 - improved in so many areas. But, 991 C2S might be £65k, but I think 991 C4S would be nearer £80ks

Having driven all three, I've gone with a 997.2 C2S and used some of the spare cash for a proper set of winter wheels & tyres. FWIW, I'd go for a 991 PDK rather than a 997 PDK or for a 997.2 Manual over a 991 manual - I drove the 991 manual at Silverstone and was not impressed with the box - I gather that it's been improved for the 991 GTS though. And I'd have 2WD over 4WD in either model - much more the full 911 experience. I could now be tempted by a 997 GTS manual, but they're simply not being sold, it appears. Failing that, I'm hanging on to my current car for the foreseeable…
