I'm wanting to buy a nice compact camera.

I've narrowed it down to the Sony Rx100 mark 3, Lecia D Lux 109, Panasonic Lx100.

I know there are some rx100 fans here. Which one should I buy?

I'm sure they're all great, but only the Sony will fit in your trouser pocket.

The price difference is quite large for a slightly different outer skin, a red dot and LightRoom rather than Silkypix software (either of which or a preferred alternative you may already have ...)

On the other hand if the financial angle is not significant the cachet of the red dot may may swing the decision.

If you are looking at the Sony RX100 M3 then also consider the Canon G7x, same sensor just some slight differences (check out some reviews).

Personally of all those I would stick with my Sony RX100 M1 which can still be bought new for a bargain £250. Spend the other £400+ on going somewhere to take some pics!

I have to say, the Panny LX100 is very tempting for me at the moment....

This is a very valid point - I could buy the RX100 M1 AND a new HD camcorder for the price of the Panny....

What is important for you?

Size/feature/brand/video?

I like the LX100, as a big all rounder http://lx3.smugmug.com/Architecture/St-Pauls-Cathe...
