I want to go check out a car which is pretty far away from me. The HPI check turned out fine but the car used to have 2 previous plates numbers.
Is this something weird? Or is it just normal and should not be worried? The car is 7 years old and has around 45k miles.

Someone in the past probably had a private plate on the thing. Post up the full HPI and we'll advise I'm sure.

The main reason for flagging up plate changes is to ensure it's not a ringer (I.e. a different car that's had its identity changed) - so when you see the car check that the VIN number matches the one on the V5 and indeed the one on the HPi printout.

You might like to familiarise yourself with the exact location of the VINs on the car by looking at another similar vehicle before you go to see the one you are interested in. It is usually in 2 places, on a small plate somewhere and also stamped into the metalwork somewhere.

Or you could let us know the type and age of car it is, and someone on here will describe where to look.
