Stupid idea, especially with cold mornings where all power should be used starting the engine not illuminating the drive.
There has to be away, yes I know I can turn the lights off but I want to choose to turn them on like 99.99% of all other cars.

1. This sort of thing typically involves a dealer and a laptop.

2. If they are LED lights they draw very little current in any event.

If the car's signed off for production to start, headlights on, at -20 or whatever it is they test them at, then a few cold days around zero in the UK won't be a problem...

This suggests you turn the lightswitch to the left then release so it springs back - should turn the autolights off?

ETA: although on further reading it suggests that might not work depending on the model.

How often do you find that the car won't start because of this? confused

When the starter is engaged, all other circuits are normally temporarily switched off to maximise the current available for the starter

I recall on the Insignia's I have used, of various ages and model specs, it was a case of just twisting the switch from auto to off? I think? I definitely could get the main headlights off and also the DRLs (for some reason) also switched off and only came back on with lights set to auto?

I find that it is 17 - 25 year olds that do this. They need an annual re-test.
