Indie dealers selling 'problem' cars
Discussion
Bit of a complicated one to describe but here I go...
Certain cars are known to have particularly expensive yet contentious design faults that the manufactures deny, yet often fix with a goodwill gesture.
For example the e46 M3 often cracks around the rear subframe mounting points and leads to catastrophic failure if not treated in its infancy. Yesterday on Radio 4 there was a feature on >2010 Audi TFSI 2.0 engines that are using copious amounts of oil and requiring new engines.
So as a lot of these type of problems are know to a lot of car forum types, the general public could buy one from a non franchised dealer and get stung when the issues come to light.
How do Indie traders cover themselves and/or help their customers. It could get pretty messy really
There are a few people on PH that trade in cars like e46 M3's or similar and are small outfits. What responsibility do they have as sellers?
