Road cycling back protectors - any users?
Discussion
Hi,
Do any of you have experience of road riding / commuting while wearing a back protector?
I'm currently out of action following a car/bike accident which has left me with a crushed vertebrae. I have previously had back issues due to misalignments.
I'm a little paranoid about getting back on the road, especially commuting to work in central London. I think wearing a back protector (eg Daineae Soft flex or EVOC bike vest) might help my peace of mind plus give protection in case of a repeat accident.
Any experiences?
Thanks in advance
I'm also expecting some folk to comment on the *need* for a protector, helmet, hiviz etc. I don't mind, it's a public forum!
I will always wear a helmet when cycling and will always wear hiviz / reflectives when commuting in the low light or dark. That's my choice. I won't challenge you on your choices!

Not quite the same scenario, but I had a bad accident a few years ago resulting in various bits of metal being used to hold my arm together. I rode with a back protector pack and 661 lightweight armour for about 12 months, then my confidence returned and no longer bother with the extra protection. The extra protection was purely psychological but it certainly helped me get back on the bike.
