A week ago I took delivery of a Fiesta ST, while it's a great car, I have a few issues with the USB, the main one being that it doesn't remember where it is up to, and every time I return to the car, it begins at the first track on the USB.

Not a disaster, but when you are listening to an audio book, you then have to spend time fast forwarding.

Is this because of my USB stick - a cheap one - or is it a more fundamental problem?

A USB stick will never work in that way unfortunately, it doesn't have any brains smile

How can manufacturers get things like this so wrong?!

Other hi-fis do remember the track currently played on USB, so I don't see why your Fiesta can't. I agree it's a very useless feature without any kind of memory. How is the browsing of the USB?

Both my ST stereos have remembered the usb position even when using more than one USB stick.

Have you tried re-indexing the usb stick in synch? Think its option reset usb. This has fixed any playing issues I have had.

Will give the re-indexing another try.

Did it work? If so, what did you do, please?
It's an annoying trait I've found too with my ST, but using an iPod.

I plug my ipod in with a USB and it remembers its position.

It doesn't, but the USB host does. This functionality has existed in every USB-equipped car audio system I've used, including the one in my 2010 Mondeo.

It sounds like a file system or file type issue.
