E36 M3 Evo saloon - where is the stereo amp?
Discussion
Afternoon
Does anyone know where the amp is in this car? I had a new head unit put in last week (after some v helpful advice on the stereo forum). It turned on okay but no noise. This was the problem when I took it in (which perhaps I should have mentioned). Apparently modern head units don't need the amp so I just need to find where it is to by-pass it. If it is under loads of trim any tips on how to reach it?
Thanks

You must be the HK factory option (two speakers per front door card) as I'm fairly confident that the standard (one speaker per door card) setup doesn't come with a separate amp.
HK layout here.

What that doesn't show is the FM amplifier which is hidden behind the passenger side c pillar trims, this is if when you sort speaker issue you experience poor fm radio reception. Check these boxes and replaced before forking out for a new rear screen; radio antenna is contained within the vertical lines and look like heating elements.
