Looking for the right one

Well I have had my break from driving for 13 months, now new license in hand and its time to buy the first step into TVR ownership. Half way through TVR bible and a visit to Tony Gilbert, TVR is obviously the way forward in life.
Looking through the classifieds and trying to get some more information on a few cars before I make the calls in the morning and driving a few hundread miles to see them. If any one has any info on the cars or has been to see any that would be great,

Not seen any of them, black one looks awesome but on close inspection discs and calipers look quite corroded, possible sign of lots of polishing but little proper maintenance... 4.0 looks lovely and has great history... If it was me I'd go for the 430....

I find the brake discs on mine get surface rust very quickly. Within a few hours if you've washed it and not driven it dry.
The black one seems to have drilled discs so a bit of after market money has been spent on it, especially with the non-standard alloys. It would possibly come with a bit of warranty too, but with an old car you'd probably have to actually 'break' a part to claim. The lack of PAS would put me off though, it's hard enough with PAS!

As Chill says, look past the shinny bodywork as thats an easy fix, its all the mechanicals;chassis,all joints, bearing shocks,engine diff, the list is endless if it turns into a money pit 12 months down the line. Get it up on a ramp as 10k is a fair chunk to pay for car that doesnt seen to have had any chassis work? Good luck Sorry not much help, just personal opinion...

It's mechanically excellent and the chassis is solid, it's got a good history and has had a lot of money spent on it (a lot lf it by me unfortunately).
Downsides are its a 10+ owner car, a bit of a marmite colour and a bit scruffy. When I sold it the speedo wasnt working properly, it was leaking a bit oil from the diff and there was a whine when you turned left (we called it Zoolander).
If those bits have been fixed though it's a steal at that price.

Not much help I know. I do like the yellow one, the interior colour scheme is similar to mine, and now have confirmed my decision to have the carpet done with the same colours too.thanks all for the replies, the lack of chassis restoration was the main thing that really put me off these cars even before I had seen them, but thought they are worth the check over just in case it wasnt mentioned on the advert. From the exterior they looked great, especially in the black however looking a little further, I reckon would of def needed a chassis resto at some point for that one.
Didnt get to see the red but green was ok, had a few pages of four figure bills in the receipts, engine started well, temp gauge didnt seem to move for 5 mins it was running, not sure if this was normal. Would need a new dash if i went for it, if I dont get to see any more will prob take for a test drive.
Also quick question, car was in neutral, slight tap to the left on the gear stick and it dropped to the left without returning back to the center like you think it would, normal?

Had a good nose underneath, chassis looked good, but there was a good oil leak from both the engine and diff.
It sold yesterday too.
