Question

Had a knocking noise over bumps since I have had the car, spotted this yesterday as a possible cause, I think the shockers were fitted with the wrong type of end bush allowing them to twist left and right, I would of thought it should be a fixed bush

I think you need to look else where. Most aftermarket suspension units are fitted with rose joints which allows this sideways/twisting movement.

Have your diff bushes been changed?

This was when the rear end was rebuilt, I have found loose driveshaft bolts in the past since the rebuild before me. I just wasn't sure about the rose joints.

Have you checked the ARB drop links?

Another vote for the rear ARB drop links, quite a common issue.

Worn damper rose joints can knock.

I've also had knocking from dampers themselves, (even new Nitrons).

Weird thing was that on may car the knocking sound was on the opposite side of the car to the loose front ARB droplink. Thankfully my friendly MOT guy spotted it, as it had been annoying me for months.

I also found another ARB droplink failure recently where the rear droplink punched through the large washer so the rubber bush was no longer held in place.

I have my rear ARB disconnected, handles better in my opinion.

disconnect the ARB, cable tie it out of the way temporarily to test, if thats not it, the shock itself could be knocking.
