Hi guys, not got much of a clue about photography but purchased the missus a Nikon Coolpix S9600 digital compact.
Am I best to just get her a memory card from Jessops/Argos etc or are they cheaper elsewhere?
The camera will take SD or SDHC by the looks of things, which is best?
I am unsure of all the different class's etc, just looking for a large memory good quality card at a good price.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

If you want to buy from a shop Tescos often has good deals on Sandisk cards

SanDisk, sdhc, I wouldn't go that big, stick perhaps at 8 or 16 and buy 2.

7dayshop is as ok a place as anywhere to buy from.

I hate 7 day shop , it's not based in the UK and they ship out stuff with euro plugs not GB 3 pin ones.

cannot go far wrong with a memory card I guess.

But I tend not to shop there and rather keep the money in a UK shop

plus it takes 2 days longer to get anything, and if you are like me you want it next day :-)

Well I'm a 7dayshop fan

I'm also a fan of sticking with quality branded cards from a reputable source. Nearly every one of mine is Sandisk.

Unless you really think you need the speed, I don't think the fastest cards will be value for money for the camera model you mention.

Used to be a tip was to get a couple of smaller capacity cards, rather than rely on one big one (in case it fails).

Thanks guys, think I will get her a couple of 16's rather than spend a fortune on a 64.

Be very careful where you buy them from. Lots of fakes/faulty cards about. I researched this a while back and bought direct from amazon rather than one of the other merchants on there.
