Used car dealer changed name and refusing to honour warranty
Discussion
I foolishly bought a used car from an independent garage in West London last year and am now having problems with them honouring the warranty.
The company seems to have stopped trading under the name they were calling themselves when I bought from them, and have now started a new company which is registered at the same address with the same stock for sale but looks like one of the cousins is now listed as director.
Do I stand any chance of taking them to a small claims court and getting some money back, or should I just put it down to experience?
I'm kicking myself for buying from a dodgy place in a crap part of town, but as I knew the history of the car from before they got their hands on it (long story) I wasn't too fussed at the time, but now looking like its cost me a warranty

Most probably, no. You've not given a huge amount of detail, but I'm assuming you bought from ABC Motors Limited, and they are now ABC Motors (2015) Limited.
Yes you're correct. Sorry been deliberately vague so as not to breach the N&S rules, but essentially ABC Motors Limited is listed as having Mr A Ahmed as director, and ABC Motors (2015) Limited is listed as having Mr H Ahmed as director. All at the same address.btcc123 said:
When you bought the car from the garage the warrantee would have been with a warranty company not the garage.I have never heard of a small independant garage giving a warranty in their name, but may be wrong. On your warrantee documents whats the name of the warrantee company.
I think there are plenty of small garages that will give warranties that they have no intention of honouring. Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
