Just wondering if any of you guys have an Oculus Rift DK2 kit and what you think of it? I've built a simulator at home to use with Asetto Corsa and would really like to use a VR headset.

I've no idea when the consumer version is actually going to be released, so is it worth getting the DK2 kit to put me one until they do finally release it? What are peoples thoughts on the DK2? Some reviews say the screen quality isn't that great? Are they easy enough to use withough just an average amount of computer knowledge (Asetto corsa has a pre-prepared video setting I think)? Or would I be better off just waiting for the consumer product?

Yes, I've been using a DK2 for a little while.

It is incredible and once you've used one in a driving game (LFS is excellent with it, as is AC) you'll never want to go back. However, the resolution needs to increase and that will necessitate a huge increase in performance from processors and video cards. This is because you really need fps > 75 for proper immersion (hence why LFS is so good). It is also fiddly to use and their new version (not released) is already a huge improvement.

My advice - hang tight and buy the consumer release towards the end of the year and build the best machine you can at that time.

I've just had a good machine built. Cant remember spec off the top of my head, but curretly running through a 50 inch 1080 screen that I have close up for as much realism as possible.

Just wish Oculus would say when they're going to release it. After your comments I NEED one in my life!
