Thanks Joe (Variomatic) for the Repair - Top Service

I don't often do this but... Wanted to say something about my experience with Joe as there have been a lot of repair threads lately.
I sent Joe (Variomatic) my Tag F1 for a repair to the date wheel mechamism, last Thursday.
He received the watch on Friday and it was back in the post, repaired the same day and back in its box on my shelf on Saturday.
Now, if that is not good service, I don't know what is! My best mate's IWC shall be with him this week as well.
I don't know how long it would have taken Tag themselves (they most likely damaged it causing this problem, last time it was there) or what it would have cost but I can't believe it would have been quicker or cheaper.

It was a little lucky that I happened to have a date change wheel in stock for that one and had a fairly quiet afternoon that day. I usually only aim for same-day turnaround on things like batteries, but it's always nice to get them back out the door that fast when you get the chance!

I should have probably put a caveat in... My mechanic also came over and changed the hub/ upright on my 172 in less than an hour this morning... Why don't you lot work with me? I'm lucky if someone replies to a simple email in my office!
The problem is, in a lot of this sort of work, the Big Guys have conditioned people to the idea that these things take far longer than they really do in many cases.
That does help with managing workload when you're a national player but [cynical] it also supports some of the prices charged. Had I repaired your watch that promptly then charged anywhere close to what TAG would have you might just have wondered where the money was going. If, on the other hand, it takes 6 weeks then it's obviously going to be expensive! [/cynical]
