OK, in a moment of extreme optimism over the weekend I ordered an "RAF Benevolent Fund BAE Hawk Gift Set 1:72 - A50155". It's the 2012 one with the swoopy rendering of the UK flag. Any hints as to how to approach the paint scheme?

You'll find the white are decals (as below) so you'll paint the red + blue

A quick search has this as the decals, hope it helps

Thanks, slightly less intimidating; just need to get my 109G decaled and finished before the new stuff arrives. Ordered a Tiger Moth kit too. N+1...

Cannot help with the Hawk although I've just painted the 4th of 10 Red Arrows Hawks in the same scale.

I am currently half way through a Tiger Moth build !thumbup

I would paint instead of using the white decals, which will probably be a bit transparent.
Paint it all white, then mask the white lines with some thin Tamiya tape. Then you will find it easier to paint the red and blue blocks of colour.
Only use the heart decal as it will be easier than masking that shape.

That was the order I had in mind - especially for the red, as only a white undercoat seems to work.

The curved masking - would 6mm tape be sufficiently flexible? I'd considered getting a wider tape, putting it on temporarily (so I could mark with a pencil) and then using a French curve & scalpel to shape it.

Got to challenge myself wink
