VW Polo 9n - dash board rattle help
Discussion
Afternoon all
After some advice, my polos dashboard has been rattling/creaking for some time now. However it has now got worse and is starting to drive me insane.
The creaking is coming from the smooth plastic just below the windowscreen. With the loud rattling / plastic vibrating coming from either near the heating controls or near the passenger airbag.
I have had the cd changer out and glued the plastic clips at the back to make sure these werent moving, this was 6 months ago and are still fine. I have wrapped the cd changer and radio in packing foam, also all the wires behind have been wrapped together. The heater control's have also had packing foam inserted all around it. With all the screws/nuts tightened.
Wonder if anyone knows / have had this problem before? Any suggestions will be appreciated, as it may help me locate the problem if I have to have the dashboard removed.
Thanks
Ben

We had one of these Polo's many years ago and it also had the kind of noises you're describing - must be fairly characteristic of them.
Judging by what you've already said, you sound fairly competent at stripping the relevant parts.
If so, the next bit is fairly obvious - you just need to go through a process of elimination by removing parts of the dash then driving the car until you can hear no more rattle. Then you'll know what part to pad out before putting it all back together.
