Well, just got back (well an hour or so a go) from a brilliant day at Base Performance, all thanks to Aston Martin and their ultimate Evolution tour, I hear the other group will be racing tomorrow they are in for a treat!!

Arrived at 8am a bit early, to be greeted by Darren Turner! A great start to the day.

We were treated to a big old breakfast and plentiful coffee while we had our briefing from DT.

We then were lead into the back where we locked eyes on the GT simulator with its full size AML GTE pro shell, very cool ( annoyed I didn't do any inside shots )

We began in a GT4 Vantage round the national circuit at Silverstone, which was quite tricky actually. I have no real muscles in my left leg so the first time I went to brake nothing happened and went straight into the wall at an indecent speed whoops!

After the first stint the guys from Base adjusted the brake sensitivity which they did every time I got behind the wheel (no fuss, or bother), I was really grateful for that! We finished the morning having a few laps in the GT3 spec vantage ( v12) which was awesome, just awesome.

Lunch awaited us after the morning session, bit of Chilli is always a hit!

Then onto Spa for 8 laps a piece, this was the slower part of the day as with 10 people to get through there was a bit of hanging about, fortunately you get full telementary and sector times to keep your eyes busy and your brain occupied as you see where you can pick up a bit of time. Once out on track, the feel of the wrap around screen gave an immense sensation of speed, and curbs really were to be avoided as much as possible, the crash of the day at the bus stop was testament to that. Some deeply impressive lap times were put down by the professional racers and gentleman alike on the day : )

We finished the day with a 2 lap Le Mans shoot out in the GT3 Vantage, 1 outlap and a flying lap, so no room for errors here, it suddenly got serious as we all cleared out of the viewing gallery as to ensure lap times were a secret til the end, but also I guess to keep things level.

The standard of driving by everyone who came on the day was incredibly high, as was the level of humour and banter : )

It was a mind blowingly good experience and I recommend it to anyone with petrol in their veins. The instructors were all either race engineers or racing drivers themselves and were bursting with good advice. Can't praise them enough really.

Thank you Aston Martin and thank you Base Perfomance.
