Hi all, I'm new to this forum and would value people's opinions on the following information:

I'm looking to buy a car via a well-known online bidding site. The seller has told me that they are selling it via a third-party, Gary Hart Transport, as they are out of the country. I cannot find a website or contact number for this firm but an email to them brought a response that no vehicles can be looked at prior to viewing, must be paid for in advance, with a 48 hour test period after the vehicle is delivered. The email sent back also states that they are 'Recommended by PistonHeads.com'.
I find this a very curious way of doing business - I would love to know if anyone has ever come across this method of selling/purchasing a vehicle and what their experience was? Also curious about the apparent use of PistonHeads.com as an advertising strategy?
Thanks!

Are you seriously considering giving money to a business you've never heard of to buy a car that they don't own, which you can't view until you've paid for it?

There are plenty of cars out there from reputable dealers who are only too happy to give their contact details. I'd suggest buying from one of them.

But, but it's a bargain!

Other sellers of the same product want the market value for it- etc etc.

The car is a figment of someone's imagination, technically. A crook's, and also a sucker's.

Hi all
Thanks for your replies - for any of you concerned about my next move - I will not be pursuing this, it did seem like a scam. I will be reporting it as a suspicious listing to the website.
Thanks once again!
