I agree and don't think the woman deserved the investment.

If only that fella that was on before with the Helicopter type vehicle thing had been less nervous and had a better presentation, that looked really exciting. Did I hear those fuel consumption figures correctly?? I can't remember the exact figures but they sounded astoundingly good.

Agreed with them on most of their rejections though, especially the wobbly table one, maybe it is an issue but no-one encounters it enough or cares enough to buy a keyring with several different size "table leg steadiers" on it.

The brolly vending machine is a bloody great idea.

Not for the brollies but the advertising.

That scots chap who stiched the other fella up over the money - now thats a sharp bloke...

I applied to be on this show but after seeing it last night am gald it didn't go through. Everyone else on there is after £20-120K investment and already have businesses. My idea didn't even have a name and I wanted £300k they would have ripped me apart!

Yeah true, it was a bit of a harsh manouvre and one could see it coming but he read the scenario well, knowing that Jones would negotiate.

I think its a great program.
On the face of it that woman who got the funding didn't seem to deserve it. But remember its a highly edited program, there must be loads of paper work the dragons look through that we dont see, they wouldn’t just hand over that sort of money based on that presentation not even if they wont even notice it missing.
£35k a year form a start-up company seems redicluas to me.

Great concept - really poor delivery. I can't believe the quality of applicants last night - on the whole they were inept.

Also not that impressed with the team of entrepreneurs - the show is a spectacle for their arogance and demonstrates how quickly they forget the hard times and the days they used to sit on their arse cheeks on the floor! At some stage someone will have taken a risk with them but somehow that doesn't really come accross. Their explanations are poor and don't really present an acurate image of how a true entrpreneur's mind operates.

Its just a shame that the show has been dressed for TV rather than showing reality.

Thing is, whether or not she deserves the investment, the Dragons are looking at profit and exit strategies. Their only motivation is "how much can I make" not "does this individual deserve money?".

A great programme - and it reminds me of so many of the trumped up egotistical self-styled assholes I have worked with in city firms over the years Damned glad I'm out of that now.

I have to say, that seeing the calibre of some people making their pitch it does give one heart.

I've only ever been to see a VC once and he absolutely scared the crap out of me. So I had written it off as a method of financing since then.

No he's not that knowledgable, he just looks like it, and there ain't no way he's worth £300 Million. He's just trying to out-ego John Caudwell (his ex-boss)

I know these things

VCs are generally bloodsucking cynics, so don't upset yourself.

Hey, that is what the whole point is. Emotions, justice and fairness are for the birds.
Investment ain't a philanthropic process...

Well I've just looked at the dragons den site on BBC, and there is a link to the woman's website who got the money.

Sorry but is this:

Considered a beautifully tailored suit? Not to my eyes! Looks like jeans and a black denim jacket to me.

I sat there watching that woman thinking "I wouldn't invest my money with you". She can't live on less than 70K? Her example items looked like they'd come from the Debenhams sale (in fact, the black suit looked like it'd come from New Look), and she seemed to be restricting her business to a fairly small demographic.

The personal flying vehicle was cool, and I'd have invested money in that. However, I would have been scared off by the apparent reluctance to discuss the technology.

If i was confronted with the proposition of funding that flying machine i would have asked the guy to meet me at the bar and discuss it over a pint. I reckon that may even have happened because although he didnt want to disclose his ideas infront of the camera i'm sure he would have done to the chap that was really keen on it.
