E92 Extended Warranty
Discussion
it is that time of year again, so I logged into their website and got a quote - £2895.01
Wow, that is a big jump from last year.
Mine is an 09 with 67K miles but I have not done that many miles this year.
Anyone else seen a big jump in price?

The big jump in price is because you have gone over the 60k miles threshold. My advice would be to take out the driveline warranty with an excess. Wow, that is a big jump from last year.

Is it not because yours is now past 60K that there is a price hike? As per PH wisdom, if you pay monthly, the warranty premium stays the same - albeit too late for you now.
Slightly confused by this if serious. Are you saying that as long as you are on dd your premium never increases? As already mentioned, that is indeed the case and has been for some time. My E93 was purchased at 51k miles and is now at 101k miles, 2.5 yrs later and I have seen no price hikes in the warranty (I have always paid monthly by direct debit) or had any questions - and that is despite 3 or 4 warranty claims at BMW main dealers.

Ah ha. So as long as you renew monthly dd they don't check your mileage? Interesting if true, but can't quite believe they missed that one

I'd stick the three grand in a war chest and use it if you need it. The Mondial warranty on my 730d was almost as much as I was paying for the bloody car. I binned it and now six years later I'm £24,000 richer.
Find a good indie and you can run an E92 for Ford money. My E65 and my wife's E92 go to a local former BMW master tech and have cost lemonade money to run over the years. Even a big bill isn't that big if you're steering clear of the main stealers.

The M3 is being discussed here not a regular e92. You certainly can'tt run an M3 on lemonade money. Find a good indie and you can run an E92 for Ford money. Going on your math's above did they really want £4k a year for a warranty on a 730D?
Going back through the paperwork it was £239 a month fully comp with no excess, which is rather a lot of money for a three year old car. So £17k since the car fell out of warranty. My indie could probably build me a new 730d out of spares for that kind of money.
Anyhow, I didn't realise you were talking about an M3, that's a different story. As you were.

I just ran a check on the E60 M5 and the top level cover is £125 a month for < 60,000 miles.
Yes I could never understand the PH obsession with having a BMW warranty but that was simply because the cost of keeping it up on an E65 was prohibitive. It's all relative I suppose - a few E65 electrical gremlins and a week at a BMW dealer will burn through the yearly cost of the warranty in no time but for me I felt it was a risk worth taking.
On an E60 M5 £125 a month is a no brainer though.
