Are there any marks on the inlet manifold that i need to look for when buying another inlet manifold for my 2500TC engine? Car is a 1971 Vixen 2500. Im after another inlet manifold. I know they have the Leyland logo, other than that...thats all i know. Mine has the larger valves as ive recently found out if that makes any difference.

Regards.

Best A,

There are to types for the 6 cilinder 2500 because of difference in the outlet ports position.
The ones on the TR250 differs from TR6.
Do not know whether there are early TR6 with those headers.

Just in case you did not know.

From messing around with Triumph saloons for a long time (in UK) here is what I know.

Mk1 and mk2 engines are different. But in UK you will only see mk1 2000 engines.

All of the Mark 2 engines, 2000 and 2500, including the PI, have the same inlet manifold gasket, so the inlet manifolds are interchangeable.

The 2000 manifold had 1 1/2 carbs and was 'short' (i.e. distance from head). This manifold has an awkward turn for cyls 2 and 5 and has squareish carb castings. The USA carb TR6 used this mfold with 1 3/4 carbs. I think this USA TR6 is the mfold that TVR Vixen used.

NB. I have opened out two of the 2000 manifolds to fit 1 3/4 carbs onto 2500PI engines to convert them. Worked well, so can be a backup option.

There were a couple of casting variants of this 'short' manifold, I think some were only used in USA.

Later when Triumph became part of BL and the 2500 carb was made for UK, they made a 'longer' manifold, which had better flow (apparently) and 1 3/4 carbs. This I think is the one with the BL logo on it. Not sure if this manifold will fit in a Vixen.....

Rimmers may have pics on their webiste ?? just a thought....

This may be of interest.

What's wrong with your current manifold by the way?

I'm changing the twin 1 3/4 for twin HIF7s 1 7/8. So need the inlet so I can port, match the carbs and head. And if it goes tits up just bolt the old set up back on.
Ordered the one I want now but good link for the info thanks.

For reference, those photos are what I described as the 'long' manifold.
