Hi All
I forgot to take a picture before I took it to bits, been a while since I did, so is this how it fits to the plate

It's a wiper motor mounted on a plate, the question is it mounted right

Gotcha, will have a look at some old photos from when I had the dash out a couple of years ago.

Sorry no photos of that area but having gone out to the car, although not easy to see and only able to see the motor part from the glove box when the trim is pulled down, it would appear that the mounting bracket might be 180 out i.e. plate taken off and flipped to allow it to screw onto bulkhead above and in front of motor which is orientated as you have in the phot when viewed from glove box.
How it helps but I'm sure someone else might be able to offer definitive reply with said photos.

I suspect the S1 is different to later cars? No bracket on my S3, wiper motor bolted straight up to bodywork, above glovebox.

Not much help I'm afraid Alan, my S1 has the earlier rod operated wipers.
The motor is mounted like this on the extreme left above the passenger footwell, forward of the glovebox:

Thanks Barry, it was 108 deg out, now all sorted, just got 2 new stainless arms, could not get the nuts so made 2 from some stainless hex bar and polished them up, just waiting for 2 stainless wiper blades.

Alan

The cover caps fot the wheel box are chromes from a MGB, same threads and size,
