Transfering Personal plate from Sorned car

Hi everyone, apologies as this has probably been covered a thousand times, but couldn't find a definitive answer.

I currently have a personalised plate on a car that is Sorned (about 3 months ago and there was no break in between end of tax and sorn etc) and the MOT ran out in December 2014.

Im going to transfer it onto my current car (which is MOTed and taxed etc)

However when I send off the paperwork it says to include the logbook and Mot certificate - not a problem for my current car. But do is still have to send off the expired MOT certificate that is related to the personal plate, or purely just the Log book?
