2005 Facelift Honda Integra Type R DC5

Hello chaps,

I've been a lurker for years now & thought I should finally sign up and be a part of the community.

So, for almost 10 years I've been a Honda nut. On my 6th Type R now.

My history -

2002 EP3 Civic Type R
2000 DC2 JDM Integra Type Rx
2000 DC2 JDM Integra Type Rx
2001 EP3 Civic Type R
2005 EP3 Civic Type R Premier
2005 DC5 Integra Type R (Current)

The EP3 and the DC2 are very different cars in my opinion. EP3's are great fun and perfect for a daily ride as well. DC2's are definitely more focused towards fast road/track work.

I've now got the DC5 and believe it's the best of both worlds from the EP3 and the DC2.

So some details about the DC5 -

-Imported by Torque-GT In November 2014.
-68,000 Miles.
-Non 'c-pack', but had engine start button fitted.
-Auction grade 4B from a Honda Kansai auction.

Here it is in its homeland before shipping -



And freshly docked in on UK soil 6 weeks later in Southampton -

And the day I picked it up from Torque-GT, with my private plate I luckily snapped up -



I've done the whole tuning/modifying thing with these Type Rs for years, so promised myself I would only do the bare essentials with this one, as the majority of it is decent from the factory.

Since owning it I've slapped on 4 Continental Sport Contact 5 XLs on - awesome tyres. I did think about AD08's as I want to do a lot of track time in it, but 99.9% of the time I will drive it will be the wet UK roads so the Conti's won.

Apart from that, I'm a bit of a clean & tidy freak. Refurbished all 4 wheels, replaced tired weather strips on the doors, replaced smoke stained interior A pillar trims, refurbished the Brembo calipers and I'm currently in the process of giving the whole interior an overhaul.

Then after a foam, wash, dcon, clay, polish, glaze, sealant and wax - here's the finished product, all nice and protected for the UK winter!









As the previous Japanese owner clearly smoked about 80 a day in the car, with all windows up; I'm going pretty hardcore on the interior as I cannot stand that musty smell. Mats and carpet was removed from the car to be properly shampooed & pressure washed respectively. When taking the carpet out I actually found some chopsticks underneath which made me chuckle!

Current state -



So that's how it stands now.

Next on the agenda is to refit the interior then upgrade the brakes, I'll then be ready to get it on track.

Currently have the following to go on -

-Ferodo DS2500 pads front & rear
-Hel Braided Brake Lines
-Motul RBF600 Fluid

Next update will be some track pictures I imagine!

Quite right getting the carpets out for a proper clean I would do the same. The car is worth it!

Had owned it for 4 and a half years and fancied a change. Sold it almost 2 years ago now. Replaced it with a STI Impreza, it's much faster but nowhere near as much fun.

Yeah the Tegs aren't massively fast in a straight line but you're right, they have the fun factor and that's what I love about them. A few of my friends left the Honda scene to go turbo, but they all eventually came back to VTEC in the end!

That is stunning and going to be even better!

The DC5 is the only car I've test driven and not bought and regret not buying (I ended up with an Audi TT, wtf was I thinking!)! By far the best FWD car I've driven (driven a 98 spec JDM DC2 quite extensively and yes it's fun but the 5 is so much more planted).

Thanks Steve! What drugs were you on when you chose a TT over a DC5? (No offense to TT owners BTW! Haha)

DC2s are decent. But I believe the K20A really is the best 2.0 n/a engine ever made, and the extra torque and tuning potential over the B18C makes a huge difference.
