I saw this monster in Dubai and in virtually every way it was a mammoth industrial/military style imposing vehicle full of custom parts but I can't stop looking at the door mirrors that have come straight off a C-class

so what exactly should M-B require SDP to put on gay-wagens when they build them as i suspect the original fitment in the late 1970s was not power adjustable / heated etc etc etc .mph1977 said:

Something off a commercial vehicle? I just found it slightly amusing and not in keeping with the rest of the vehicle. Just thought it was a bit of fun, it's the £400k that would put me off a 6x6 not the mirrors lol.Nissan really hack me off for this. I would quite like a 350Z if it wouldn't mean I had to look at a Pathfinder steering wheel every time I got into it. It's not exactly the same, but it's bloody close. As you say, it also applies far too much to Infiniti products.
I have noticed that while VAG seem quite good at taking something expensive they've designed for an exec car and slowly filtering it down to the lesser models since its development is already paid, a lot of Japanese manufacturers do the exact opposite - take their very cheapest parts and apply them to the whole range to reduce the cost.

Also same as 370ZRover 214/216 back lights on xj220's.
Mk2 scirocco back lights on some older Aston Martins.
Some TVR's have mk3 fiesta back lights I think.
All examples of expensive cars using parts off cheaper ones
Must save a fortune on manufacturing cost on low volume cars in development and tooling etc

The infuriating position of the ESP button, terrible SatNav, pointless rear side windows, stupid boot, asymmetric door cards and plastics so flimsy even I notice them are better reasons not to have a 350Z.But thanks to you the wheel annoys me now too. Great. I may have to drive it now to get over it.
Ever since I set my eyes on the Infiniti FX I have wanted one. I have driven the FX50 and it was fantastic. However, as soon as I got in I could see Nissan Micra parts. For example, the electric mirror adjustment switches and bits from the Juke like the Climate Control buttons etc and the most annoying being the stalks on the steering wheel which were straight from the Juke.
I understand that manufacturers part share to save costs but for their luxury brands they should create bespoke parts to add a level of luxury and uniqueness. It's the same for Toyota and Lexus.
