Could this EVER happen in the future?

With technology as it is today with diesel engines getting ever more powerful, can you see this being an avenue explored by Smoley and his cronies?

Who, me?

The last thing I'm suggesting is that I'd like to see a diesel TVR.

Doesn't mean it would never happen though.

Not really what you would want in a TVR, but there were rumours of a few little "experiments" at one stage.
The power is possible these days, but they sound like lump hammers at low revs and sewing machines at higher revs. (Bit like an S6 until it goes clickitycrunchityclankbang.......... followed by deathly silence.............. and sobbing)

They are playing with a Lambo diesel, even talk of racing a diesel at Le Mans.

The Le Mans taurus sports diesel didnt sound bad at all - and diesels tend to have a torque curve not all that dissimilar to big rover V8's. I dont see Smoleski considering it personally, but if they could get the noise right/ decent power, it would be ace.

A gorgeous bodied diesel sportscar with immense torque (for the sake of numbers - 500lb torque in basic form) from f-all revs to 5500rpm...
...Griffith 500 mk2 anyone?

Guys,
Just remember LM 2004! The team principal of the diesel entry said on Radio Le Mans that he forsaw diesel power as the 'green' way forward - and in 5 or 10 years time, all or most of the entrants would be diesel powered.
(Have to say this was just after retiring sometime Sunday morning)
That particular car was engined by a modified Porsche (?)/VW V10 diesel as fitted to the Cayenne/Towrag - IIRC.
So - don't scoff - even if its not diesel I'm sure we will see the rise of methanol fuel in the next 20 years. Bio-producable from sugar beet or cane, and I think, lower emmissions, I see this as a way of keeping the knit-your-own sandal brigade mollified.

excellent - put on a pan of chips - then empty oil into the Tiv and go for a blast...sort of a Scarboro chip run in reverse

IMO, more diesel cars means more diesel spills which means more cars in hedges.

How did you come to that conclusion???

Well I was basing it on the number of diesel spills being proportional to the amount of diesel transported. It also follows that the amount of diesel transported will increase proportionally to the amount of diesel used in cars.

Most diesel spills happen when truckers forget to put their fuel caps on, then go around a corner, with all the fuel sloshing out (I've seen this happen too on the M25/M40 junction).

Also van hire company's which charge stupid rates to top up returned vehicles to the top of the filler neck to screw another 10 bob out of their customers. Until the police start prosecuting hire co's for this dangerous and antisocial behaviour more bikers will lose their lives needlessly and more sportscars will end up in hedges.
