Evening all,
Popped out for a spin this evening and noticed a flashing under the dash passenger side.
There is a smarttire unit with flashing LEDs. Googling tells me its a no longer supported tyre pressure monitoring system but whats to know?
What does the flashing mean what does it mean when coming to change tyres etc, inside info appreciated.

I think it indicates low tyre pressure.
My tyres seem to retain the correct pressure for ages, so have not had the flashing lights.
A particular light no doubt indicates which tyre has the low pressure.
It may be handbook reading time for you David.

Re. tyre changes. I think we have to hope the fitters know what they are doing, and do not break the valve sensors.

I dont have this unit but the flashing is likely just normal operation and data flow - I think it will ping a dashboard light if there is an issue. I think you can Google the manufacturer as its a 3d party system.

Be sure to warn tyre fitters of the sender units attached to the valves.

The lights under the dash will flash for the first mile or two until the sensors "wake up". If you've got low pressure you'll get a message on the dash. Then you've got to crawl under to see which coloured light is showing & match that to the coloured ring on your valve stems.

You can still get replacement sensors, but they're expensive.

Thanks for the info guys thats clear now.
I must admit i expected the RTFM answer but as it looked aftermarket and googling says they are no longer supported i asked here first.

Mine is in for a new BERU unit - similar unit as yours but a later version. It was even flapping the door mirrors in and out with the fault. Bizarre.

With that in mind do you use the main stealer for tyres or do you know someone else in the area who would fit only?
We rent a small industrial Unit to a garage/tyre fitters but not comfortable taking Aston there.

I wanted the Pilot Super Sports which the main dealer didn't do - they naturally only do the 'AMR' Rapide approved Bridgestones - give me a bell!

Don't buy tyres from the dealer! For Corsas, they charge nearly double the market rate. They wanted £600 each for rears last summer!
