Good explanation of which lane to drive in!

All I saw was a Welsh guy swearing his tits off, illegally filming on his mobile about how other people's driving was crap, and then pulls into Lane 1 as others (including a HGV) were joining the M4. I'd have personally gone past the vehicle emerging to L1 in L2 then moved over afterwards. I believe it was J38-39 of the M4 (the Pyle junction before Port Talbot).

By the looks of things his planning ahead is better than yours! By the time the HGV actually joined the motorway, he was well past.

This is where things get subjective, I would personally still stay in L2 unafter the junction is clear simply because I've been in similar situations over the years where I have moved into L1 and would have gone past a HGV in plenty of time but I've had an impatient driver behind the HGV move out over the solid line unannounced, which isn't much fun. I'd rather take the more defensive approach thesedays.

? The lorry wasn't in L1 when he pulled back into L1

Yep, I've always said this; people don't want to drive slowly so they don't go in the "slow" lane and they don't want to drive fast so they don't go in the "fast" lane, so they sit in the middle lane.

Until this fast and slow lane st is sorted then it will always be a problem; bloody hell even the Police refer to them as fast and slow lanes now.

As for the video; I will have to wait until I am home to view it as I have no sound on my work PC.

edit; just watched it on my phone, they are not slow and fast lanes, they are overtaking lanes!!
