brake bleedin nuisance
Discussion
any ideas on the following chaps?
I have put new brake shoes on the rear of my s2, bled the rear, everything as it should be.
as the old fluid was so dark and manky looking, I decided to give the front calipers a good bleed through as well, so with the easy bleed kit in place and the nipple open on the drivers side wheel I started to slowly pump the brake pedal, after 3 pumps, with the fluid coming out okay, the pedal then felt very soft, and nothing was being pumped out of the caliper.I locked off the nipple and scratched my head for 5 minutes, and then found that the brake pedal felt hard, so I cracked open the nipple to start bleeding again, but after one pump of the pedal it went soft again.the fluid coming out at this time was the old dark litter, and some air bubbles.
I tried the same on the front nearside wheel only to find the same symptoms, I checked the rear again and the bleeding process is as it should be, so I assume that the master cylinder is working properly, I cannot see or find any leaks in the system, am I right in thinking that the front pipes are full of air, and it is going to take light years to bleed them out, or is there a simpler solution?

Hi, some cars have a button on the metering vavle that will have to be pulled out- 90% or pushed in, in order to bleed the front brakes. Metering valve usually located on inner wing, firewall( bulkhead ) near master cylinder. look for that.

I have the reservoir seperate to the master cylinder, also with accelerator valve to rear brakes, what does this metering vavle look like?
bleeding as per the bible, easy bleed kit in nipple, open nipple, slowly press brake pedal, observe reservoir fluid level, repeat process until fluid expelled is clear of air etc.
