Having a family get together on Saturday and I am having an Indian curry cook-off with my sisters. I normally make Silken chicken tikka massala from the Madhur Jaffrey curry bible with a few tweaks and normally win. I have won the last few times but need to change my curry. I have gone through my cookery books and have narrowed it down to Murg Makhan Masala from Atul Kochhar and the chicken Tandoori from The Hairy Bikers Great curries book. Anybody made these and are they any good? Can anyone else recommend a winning curry, chicken tandoori / tikka that they make?

I recently made the butter chicken from rick stein's india book and it was very good. Bit complicated but the best I've ever made at home.

This is a great curry recipe.

Lamb

Use whole spices and a coffee grinder for super freshness. Works very well in the slow cooker. (Lamb shoulder).

She stuck that under my nose whilst over for dinner least weekend, and that reminds me to pick up a copy when back from my work trip. At 3x the price it would be still worth it.

The butter chicken recipe looks good, the one i'm doing is also butter chicken (makhani). I marinated my chicken last night and cooked it on the BBQ this morning.

This one: http://www.food.com/recipe/chicken-in-a-fried-onio...

I've been making it ever since Madhur J's original book came out and still keep coming back to it.

This sums up my favourite curry very nicely:

I'd recommend buying Durban Curry powder from a South African store... plenty available online.
