Sorry if this is a ridiculous question , but the MET have confirmed that since April 2014, they have seized 21 million pounds in criminal cash.

Just wondering, what actually happens to the cash? Do the police get it? Public or is it destroyed?

I'm reliably informed that 50% goes to the Treasury and 50% goes to the police force who siezed it.

I think also a proportion of the seized assets may go to the victims of the crime.
