Sub-4k 330/530 Beemers. Wise choice?

Due to change in circumstances I now need a car for about 3-4k. Still want some fun and a good drive with 6 cylinders preferably.

Realistically, are there some big bills around the corner if I go towards a E46 330i or E39 530i? All the cars for that price have circa 100k miles on. Most with FSH, though.

If not, any decent Audi 6 pots for that price?

As long as they have great service history and the cooling system looks in good condition, they can last for a long time.

I bagged an Alpina b10 v8 for this price. Worked well!

Service history and condition are key, mileage a bit less so. If looked after they will go for years, especially the petrols. Although a friends e39 530d has just ticked over 260,000 miles
