Whoever stole them has probably done her a favour - not that I'm condoning stealing of course. But UGG boots are simply awful IMO, I wouldn't be seen dead in them never mind alive...

Uggs are Aussie made boots currently very fashionable among women, and in the USA, men too, comfortable and warm. They have been 2004's fashion sell-out. My friend got hers stolen! Blagged. She took them off in the gym's female changing room, went to the toilet fifteen feet away, in her bare feet, returned, and there they were - GONE! (As they say.) Disappeared. Vamooshed. Walked.

Now who the hell steals a pair of used, warm, smelly Uggs?

Bad luck there LA. You could of course earn major brownie points by replacing said fashion item with some of these:

My girlfriend bought a pair last year. A couple of weeks later when the snow arrived she went out and bought a pair of 'proper' snow boots...

Ugg is right! I didnt know what those were called, I just called them eskimo boots. Never actually seen a guy wearing them, who would steal shoes?!

They always remind me of the wooly lined zip fronted suede boots old women wear. Oh, sorry they are the same things.

Just like these Uggs, can't find a pic of the old woman boots but you'll know what I mean.

Do you wear boots or wellies?

I don't own a pair of wellies - my riding boots do the same job.

You're right Chris - they're made for warm dry climates, perfect for chilly evenings in California, useless for wet UK - unless they make a different standard for that market.

This was for New York. Everyone appeared with them when it turned cold last year until the snow came! At least I got to use the 'I told you so' routine when the girlfriend realised they weren't waterproof...

she wants a pair of Mukluks instead! Had mine for christmas and they're great. I'd be devastated if my Uggs were taken though, although there are so many fakes around now!

Buy her some Muks, make her century.

Thanks Cosmoschick - been trying to find that bloody web site for ages and couldn't remember the name!

Unfortunately I am basically golf club shaped (a stick with big feet ) and 'normal' shoe shop boots in my size tend to look like wellies on me . Duo are the only place I know of that do different calf sizes. Off to buy boots!

BTW IMHO Uggs=Uggly!

My Israeli friend used to wear her sheepskin slippers to lectures. She felt the cold quite keenly.

Those fleece lined boots are horrible. I much prefer Just Dave's O'Neals

Well, Cosmoschick, to me they say, youthful, not afraid of colour (though not necessarily having good colour matching sense) fubsy - like a puppy's warm tummy - good natured and practical minded. They also say two small cutesy children with matching Uggs.

they say coleen 'chav' rooney to me
