I wonder whether anyone has got any ideas on a starting problem that I have, please?!

The Cerb lives outside, and with the wonderful wet weather that we have, the brakes occasionally stick when it hasn't been driven for a while. This means that when I start it, it needs some extra revs just to break the seal, so to speak. Not ideal, but there you go.

I tried to take it out the other day, and managed to stall the old girl as I was missing the required revs. It stopped with quite a jerk, courtesy of the brakes being sticky, and ever since, it just won't start.

It will turn over on the starter, and sound like it "might" catch, but never does. All of the boot fuses are fine, and as far as I can tell, there are no problems with the immobiliser. The fuel pump is whirring away, and so all in all, I think it is getting both fuel and spark.

Can anyone think of any other simple checks that I can do before I bail out and call the experts?

Thanks a lot!

Have you taken a plug out to see what it looks like?

Have you tried starting it while holding the accelerator fully down?

can you hear the fuel pump?

If it stopped with a jerk it could have popped the fuel cut off in the boot near the filler cap?

Fuel pump is whirring so it wont be the cut out.
Does the immobiliser red led stop flashing?
Tried holding the start button on for about 30 secs?
It might be the immobiliser has got confused. Mine did this. I had to unplug it, wait then plug it in again.

Sorry for not coming back to you, and thanks for all the replies.

I did wonder whether it was flooded, but I've never had that before on the Cerb. It's had plenty of time to dry out now, since I have been away. If I get to the plugs out stage, it will be paying a visit to Mr Batty! smile
