mouse in the house what to do?
Discussion
just been sitting watching telly and out the corner of my eye i saw something move accross the floo near the skirting board.i saw a mouse sat at the edge of it near the doorway.of course as soon as i moved it ran and hid.now i can't see it and the wife is freaking.
what is the best way to catch it?wife wants to know if there is a humane mouse trap?

There is a humane mouse trap, but I cant remeber what its called.
It is possible to make using to empty (for example) baked bean cans.
You need: 2 baked bean cans, 1 coat hanger.
It works on the principal that the mouse is lured into the 2 cans (link together) with cheese (or similar) at the end of the first can it walks into a bar (piece of coat hanger) releasing a door (the lid from the can) and trapping it in.
Sorry for the awful description but HTH

Get a glass bottle etc with a neck bigger than the mouse.
Place some chocolate in the bottle
Lay the bottle on the floor, next to the skirting board,(mice like o run around the edges of rooms) at a slight angle
Place a ook or two at the mouth of the bottle so the mouse can climb in.
Due to the slope the mouse cant escape
Release mouse about 100yds away (it wont come back)
Alternatively a mouse trap one second a mouse is eating loverly chocolate a split second later its dead. How humane do you want

Ok, here's what to do.
Get some tubing and block one end off.
Weld a razor blade across the tube about half way down.
Place *new improved rodent catcher* on the floor in a mouse pleasing position.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES PUT CHEESE IN THIS TRAP!
Meeces being nosy your pesky bleeder will wander into the 'trap', look over the razor blade and go
'where's the bleedin' cheese then?'
thus cutting it's own throat and leaving you smug since the moose commited hari krishna and you blameless
Excellent!

This works very well, but use a curried sausage or bombay mix so that the smell is stronger.
Good luck!

will try the bottle.i've seen the little fella about 8 times since first post.is corned in the kitchin under the cooker as i type this.keeps poking it's head out from under corner off the cooker.i've nearly had the bugger twice in 5 mins but is fairly quick on it's pins
You can herd it in the direction you want using a can of GT85... something about the teflon it won't like
. Will make your house smell nice too.Now then, as the owner of 4 pussy's I can tell you that having a cat causes the problem coz they bring them in as pressies!! Go to your local hardware shop and buy a couple of humane traps. Smother the end with peanut butter and 'set it'. Hey presto!! Empty the trap outside - easy. Don't forget to check the trap regularly, coz one time we forgot and smelt this dreadful smell - tracked it down to a decomposing mouse.......
Tim.....
Theres only one way.....
And its going to hurt...
Whether its the mouse, you or you good lady's feelings....
We live in a house built in 1851 (old then)... the mice used to come and go as they saw fit.
I've not got a problem, but(women) sorry, if that may be a bit general.... Hate them...
We bought various humane traps.
