Rear demister won't turn off

When I press the demister button to turn it on I can hear the relays click and the light comes on but when I press it again nothing happens, no relay clicks and the light stays on. Any ideas why that would be? I haven't tried with the engine running as it's not running atm.

It can't be turned off for six minutes after you have switched it on.
