Which bike..

I have been thinking about changing over from MTB to road cycling for a while now but my decision has been cast by scroats stealing my bike from my garage last week.
Insurance has paid out without any hassle and I have 5k to spend on two bikes, one for me and one for the wife.

I am looking at either of these for me, although similar in spec what would be the best bike for riding 15k per ride 3-4 times per week.

Much of a muchness. Fit is an individual thing and I'd try them both. The Domane is a bit higher at the front (in my sizde), but I can't say whether you'd need that or not.

You could pedal 10 miles on any old bike, so that has no bearing. Buy the prettiest one that feels comfy.

You don't need a fancy road bike for them short distances. However if it was me I'd spend £4,5k on a new bike for me and £500 for the wife :thumbs:

Why not spend £500 on a Specialized Allez on ebay and see if you like riding on the road? The Allez will be fine for the rides you're talking about, and if you don't enjoy it, the Allez will be easygoing sell on. If you do like it, you'll have a better idea about what to spend over £2k on.

As above, I'd suggest spending significantly less (£500-£700) rather than blowing £2k. New shiny things are great, but you potentially buy something which just doesn't suit your riding. Get something cheaper to see what kind of geometry suits you, ride that for 6 months and upgrade once you know what you're looking for.

I'm still riding my first road bike, bought 3 years ago - a Specialized Allez - as a Winter bike. I subsequently upgraded to a Carbon Canyon, but only once I was sure that a fairly 'racy' geometry was right for me.

Op good bikes you listed but I would buy something cheaper as NM says to work out if you like it
