BMW 32O CD Convertible or BMW 1 series 120D Hatchback???
Discussion
Hi guys,
I am in a pickle.......
Do I buy a BMW 320CD convertible, 2005......or a BMW 1 series 120D hatchback, 2005???
Both have covered 90,000 and both are up for £4,900.
They are both in perfect condition with full leather interior. the convertible has more gadgets like sat nav etc but the 120d is smaller and faster. I have no kids or pets so this is a car to be enjoyed.
Both have full mot and are garage sold.
I have just recently sold my beloved VW Golf 1.9 tdi as I wanted a change and have decided BMW is what I want.
Heeeeeeelp!!!!!
cheers,
Kev

e46 is the Heavenly Father of Pistonheads after the almighty mx5. But I doubt you will get many positive remarks about buying a 'cooking' 4 cylinder diesel when you should be buying a e46 coupe.
Have you test driven both to see which you like better?
I would buy the 1 seires providing it had xenons

I drive town roads, not much motorway hardly ever really.
work is about 10 miles away so the car is for driving around for recreation
If its only that far away and you drive for recreation don't get a diesel, you'll only be bringing big diesel related bills upon yourself.work is about 10 miles away so the car is for driving around for recreation
In your shoes I'd be looking for a nice 325i or ideally a 330i, 30mpg should be about right if you're restrained and they drive - lot better whilst being far simpler if the worst happens (just make sure the cooling system has been sorted prior)
I would go for a petrol one in your situation - a nice E46 325ci would do nicely
Even better, a 330ci if you can find a good one at a reasonable price. Less chance of throwing up a big bill than the 2.0 diesel. If it does, that negates your fuel savings. Better to get a slightly thirstier petrol and not worry in the first place.
