Traction control turns itself off and stays off
Discussion
Hey guys,
Decided to take the red 'ro to work last week when it was sub zero - squeeze the throttle to accelerate in 4th from 30 to 40 - 'low traction' on dash and then TC Off and stays off - this has happened before on odd occasion and always magically is fixed after a restart.
At the Ace cafe meet Batman was kind enough to show me the connector under the engine cover that cured his intermittent TC issue (a black one in the middle with a blue catch iirc..? )
Anything else I should be looking out for/at?
I will be running the engine for a few mins firstly to warm the catches on the engine panel (as they is prone to snapping) and me whilst I clean the connector and reseat it.
Cheers
Chewie

Thanks Guys,
had the problem before and after a battery change and have only lost the TC not the ABS, so would deduce that the problem probably isn't a wheel sensor, but worth a looky see if the intermittent problem comes back...
If you can bring the car up here Chewie I can read any codes for you had the problem before and after a battery change and have only lost the TC not the ABS, so would deduce that the problem probably isn't a wheel sensor, but worth a looky see if the intermittent problem comes back...

It could well be a wheel sensor as the tc uses the abs sensors.
Did it happen after a night of rain? If so it should dry out. I always get the symptoms you describe after a very high speed run and braking. It either resets itself or I kill the power via the abs fuse to get it back on side.

Defo Not the last time it - was sub zero and dry and only seems to occur when the Low Traction comes up on the dash (which it does frequently Did it happen after a night of rain? )Wouldn't I get an abs fault as well tho?

Ah, ok, missed that bit.

Sounds like some wiggly amps arn't getting through to the TC module. Try bypassing the off switch as a first try.
James at Elite invited me up to plug into his shiney new code reader
Hears what it say: P0989 Control Module Power Relay Feedback Circuit Low Voltage
It was Wetter than a Haddocks Bathing Costume on the way back and No TC issues at all, so I guess time will tell if the 'loose' connector is to blame or not...

No problem Chewie. Glad I could help - read the exact code and clear it for you. See how you get on
